2018-19 INTERNAL COMPETITION SET SUBJECTS
Definitions for Members and Judges.
TRAVEL and PLACES (Digital, 7.12.18)
This may involve the documentation of an area's landscape, people, cultures, customs or history. Images express the feeling of a time and place, portray a land, its people, or a culture in its natural state.
MONOCHROME (Print, 18.1.19)
A black and white image going from very dark grey (black) to very clear grey (white) and containing only various shades of grey.
A 'black and white' work toned entirely in a single colour remains eligible for the Monochrome Class. However, a 'black and white' work modified by partial toning or by the addition of one or more colours (e.g. a colour splash), becomes a colour work and is thus ineligible.
STREET (Digital, 29.3.19)
Photography that features chance encounters and random incidents within public places. Street photography does not necessitate the presence of a street or even the urban environment. Though people usually feature directly, street photography might be absent of people and can be of an object or environment where the image projects a decidedly human character.
STORY TRIPTYCH (Print, 26.4.19)
A group of three photographs in a single mount. A story triptych must show a developmental relationship between the three images which tells a little story (e.g. bud, flower, seedhead).
