Colin Dewsbury
Hello, I’m Colin Dewsbury and I’ve been playing with photography for over 50 years, but only since I retired have I really thought about my pictures.
My first digital camera was a Kodak Zoom in 1996 – digital photography and post processing have certainly come a long way since then. After a few point and shoot digital cameras, I upgraded to a Nikon D7000, which I struggled with for about three years until I found Fuji! Picking up the Fuji X-T2 was like returning to the 1980s and my Olympus OM10 – all the important stuff was on dials, not menus. The Nikon gear had to go…
I mainly shoot landscapes, but will have a go at most things. I joined Frome Wessex Camera Club two years ago, after being invited as a guest on one of their annual photo holidays the previous year, and I was greatly impressed by the friendliness of the club. As I learned more about the club I felt that their very full programme was just what I was looking for, with a good spread of activities, including workshops, talks, outings and the inevitable competitions.
Through the club competitions, my failures and successes, I feel my photography has improved with honest critique of my images both by invited judges and other club members, others don’t always view as I do and, more often than not, the suggestions are constructive! I am still trying to improve and I know that the friendly banter in the club will help me on the way.
Thank you for looking at my Gallery and if you are looking to improve your photography and have a pleasant night out once a week, why don’t you join us?
