Alan Denison (BPE 3*, DPAGB)
These images are a selection of images from my entries into Club Competitions from 2012, chosen to reflect my progress as a photographer since then.
I have been a member of the FWCC since 2010 when I had little photographic experience beyond family and travel 'snaps'. The club has been instrumental in my development as a photographer by providing inspiration, encouragement and support. I owe much to the Club and its members for where I am today as a keen amateur photographer.
I really only started to make progress in club competitions in 2012, as a member of what was then lower 'B' Group, with my 'Little Fellow' image (top right) which won that year's 'Best of the Best Competition. I was promoted to was then the A Group (now 'P' Group) for the 2013 Season.
While loving a wide range of photographic subjects, I have more recently found a particular love for figurative work with dancers and gymnasts. It is this that has provided work of a standard suitable for entering into external competitions and Salons and which formed much of both my CPAGB and DPAGB submissions. A professional engineer by background, I became keen on photography partially as a means of developing a more artistic side. I found that my dance / gymnastic, and architectural, work draws on both my desire to be more artistic while still pandering to the naturally precise, technically minded, engineer that I find so difficult supress. I also really enjoy the close collaboration necessary to produce my dance and gymnastic work.
I gained my BPE1* in June 2019, my CPAGB in September 2019, my BPE2* in December 2019 and my BPE3* in November 2020. I have recently achieved my DPAGB (in November 2021) and my BPE4* (in April 2022).
