Great news from the 2020 WCPF DPIC Competition on Saturday. The club had an excellent result – runner up – which will mean that we go forward, with the winners, Dorchester Camera Club, to represent Western Counties against all the other club federations in the UK at the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain championships in June. Well done everyone.

Tripod Sadly new club member David Laycock has had a disaster with his tripod and asks if any member has a reasonably priced tripod for sale. Contact me if you have and I will pass it on to David. FWCC Distinction Print Group Following last year’s success we realise how useful such a group can be to the club and its members. Loveday and Bill are prepared to run another one this year. As they are unable to cater for lots of members just wanting to improve their photography they will still need to restrict the number to prospective distinction seekers, understanding that it may be some time off for some. (The club already runs an ‘Improve your Photography group’) They aim to start off with a bi-monthly meeting but adding more as and when members are getting close to their adjudications or assessments. These distinctions will cover PAGB, RPS and other bodies. It is not possible for them to fairly be assessing DI’s as it requires a calibrated projector. (This will be dealt with in another club group.) Therefore they will restrict their group to prints only, requiring all members to actively take part by bringing work each time. Our first meeting will be on the 4th March at Loveday’s studio and will run from 7-9pm. Topic - To discuss members’ requirements and expectations. By all means bring some prints along and with time allowing you can make a start.
