This Week's Meeting
We are hosts this year for our battle with Warminster Camera Club. The judge is Barry Senior, FRPS, APAGB. Mary reminds us all that the Club's ColorMunki is available for members wishing to calibrate their monitors and printers. She will have it with her on Friday. There are still some gaps in the website record of the recent Print competition: please send digital versions as soon as you can to [email protected]. Call to a New Battle Our first battle against Devizes Camera Club is scheduled for Tuesday 16th of April (this is the Tuesday of Holy Week). Look out for directions nearer the time, because we hope that a good number of our members will want to attend. It is to be an all-digital competition. Helping a Good Cause Last week's joint meeting with Frome Video Club was packed with entertainment and interest, but the item which stood out most was a video made to publicise the water survival boxes, prepared by Rotary International, for speedy dispatch to disaster areas all over the world. (If you were unfortunate enough to miss last week's meeting, you can gain some idea of what is involved by visiting http://www.watersurvivalbox.org/) Andrew de Mora is willing to set up packing sessions in which any of us could help to prepare the boxes for shipment. Please contact him for further information or to express an interest. Please Remember FWCC Camera Fair at the Cheese and Grain, the morning of Palm Sunday, 14th April: help needed. Tri-Battle subjects for May: Wheels; Sporting moments; Environmental damage; People in their Element; Symmetry; Lighthouses; Bridges; In an English town/city; Photo-elasticity (an effect created using a polarizing filter while photographing transparent plastic under polarized light); Old & new; Wings; Black and white with one colour; Balloons; Landscape; Farming.

This Week's Meeting
An evening packed with interest, as we are welcoming members of Frome Video Club, who will show some of their work for the first half. After the cakes (don't forget to bring your own mug if you can), 6 FWCC members will talk about their own work. Friday midnight is also the hand-in deadline for the final digital competition of the season. The subject is Street Photography. For the subject definition, please visit https://www.fromewessexcameraclub.com/2018-19-set-subjects.html Battles News David's thanks to all who submitted work. His team has now picked the entries for both next week's battle with Warminster and our fixture with Devizes in April. Congratulations to those whose work has been chosen for the Warminster battle. The battle focus now shifts to our Tri-battle with Norton Radstock and Frome Selwood. It's not for a while, but the subjects will stretch us. For a reminder of them, see https://www.fromewessexcameraclub.com/tribattle.html. Diary Date, Sunday 14th April FWCC's Camera Fair at the Cheese and Grain, from 8am to 1pm. Many hands make light work, so please come along to help set up and steward if you can. Help is especially valuable early and late. Remember, Club members have free entry, and that the Club has a commission-free table where you can sell surplus equipment. There are always bargains to pick up from the traders who come from all over the country. Not an event to miss! See you on Friday. |
