This Week’s Meeting
The first internal competition of the year, Open Digital, and we are back to the “top ten” scoring system which will have the lucky ten in each group holding their breath as the results unfold. Calne Multi-Club Hand-in A reminder that this Friday, 12th, is the final day for submissions for this open digital competition. Please remember to use the old sizing (1400 x 1250), and let David have your very best photographs – [email protected]. Print Hand-in The hand-in date for the first Print competition is next week, 19th October, but Stan will have a box ready this week for anyone who needs to hand prints in early. Our New Equipment Officer Sadly, Geoff Eynon has had to step down from this role, and we thank him for all that he has contributed to the Club’s success over many years, as Treasurer, as Equipment guru, as a calm counsellor and ever-ready practical help. In recognition, we have made Geoff our first-ever Honorary Member. We miss you, Geoff, and are all thinking of you. Now, we are very pleased that Harvard Dallibar has agreed to roll up his sleeves and accept co-option as Equipment Officer. Photographic Paper Bargain Geoff has for sale the following print papers, only purchased in June for the new season: Fotospeed Digital PF Gloss270: A4, box of 50 minus 1 sheet (49 sheets) Fotospeed Digital PFGloss270: A3, box of 50 sheets Fotospeed Digital PF Lustre: A3, box of 50 sheets The list price of the A3 alone is £62.00, and Geoff is only asking £40 for the whole package. If you are interested, please contact [email protected]. Cameras at the Ready! The meeting on 19th, a studio evening of Pirate Portraits, will be followed on Saturday 20th by the Band Shoot (4.30 – 6.30 at Beckington). If you wish to join in on the Saturday, please remember to sign up on the list at the Club: there are still a few places left. Help Needed Please remember our Camera Fair at the Cheese and Grain Hall on Sunday 28th October. It is a good opportunity to buy and sell (free admission for Club members), and it raises important funds to help the Club run the programme we all enjoy. But hands are needed to help, so if you can spare even an hour or so between 7 and 1, do please come along. You’ll enjoy it, too. And looming on the horizon is the FSOP nation Salon selection weekend (10th and 11th November), when again practical help will be very much appreciated: more news of that nearer the time. WCPF AGM I am forwarding separately the documents relating to the AGM of our parent body, the Western Counties’ Photographic Federation. Photographing Food at Wells Food photography is notoriously tricky, and some members may wish to take advantage of this offer from the Wells Food Festival: Next Sunday (14th) the Wells Food Festival is delighted to have food photographer Neil White and food stylist Helen Upshall running two free photography workshops, giving tips on the tricks of their trade. I do hope some of your members would like to come along. Please visit the website wellsfoodfestival.co.uk, follow the link What's On and then Photography Workshops.
