The New Season off to a Good Start
Getting on for 50 of us gathered at Beckington last Friday, including 9 new members apparently ranging from their twenties to their eighties. Prints, slides, music and plenty of chat over a glass or so. A good, convivial evening: let’s hope the first of many to come in 2018-19. This Week’s Meeting… … is a “Get to Know Your Club” evening, together with advice on presentation of prints from Bill Aven (in the absence of Geoff Eynon) and digital images from David Chedgy. It is of course very much aimed at our newer and less-experienced members. However, probably all of us could benefit by learning some new trick or wrinkle to improve our competition chances. And new members will find it a very relaxed and inter-active evening – so don’t be afraid to ask about anything that isn’t clear. Bring your camera, and just buttonhole likely-looking advisers. FWCC Summer Events Album Your favourite photographs from any of the Club’s summer events are requested: the Frome Festival Photo Walk, the visit to Barter’s Nursery, the rainy outing to St Fagan’s, Somerset Speedway, Bath with Mick Yates, Goodwood…. Please send pics to Andrew at [email protected], so that he can create an album page on the Club website. “At the Going Down of the Sun” at Bristol Cathedral All of us who heard Marko Dutka speak to the Club last season about night photography of First World War war-graves in and around Bristol will remember his passion for the subject as much as the haunting photographs he showed us. His exhibition is on in Bristol Cathedral until 18th November, culmination of a four-year project. Not to be missed!
