Our 2017 - 18 programme of meetings culminated in our AGM last Friday.

The meeting chose these subjects for the themed competitions next year: Travel and Places, Story Triptych, Monochrome, Street. Your new committee: Chair: David Chedgy Vice-Chair and Secretary: Rosemary Arnold Treasurer: Alan Denison Salon Chair and Digital Secretary: Mary Maynard Print Secretary: Stan Wilson Programme Secretary: Gayle Glover Webmaster: Andrew de Mora Equipment: Geoff Eynon Committee member: Criss Glover Battles will be masterminded by David Chedgy, with help from Huw Alban and Harvard Dallibar. The meeting expressed huge gratitude to those now stepping down from the committee: Keith Kemp, Loveday Powell and Bill Aven. Data Consent The new law is now in effect. We still await permission from some members. So, if you hear of someone who has not received this newsletter, please ask them to get in contact so we can reach them again! The Future is Bright Our new Webmaster has begun work on a new Club website. To see just how fresh and appealing it looks, please visit https://fromewessex.weebly.com/ . Rest assured, however, that our old website continues to serve us well. Mere Down Falconry Visit, on Sunday We know of 25 members and friends planning to come to Mere on Sunday 3rd at 10 am, so the cost will be £8 pp. The Falconry’s address is: Manor Farm, Mere, BA12 6HR. In the centre of Mere, almost opposite the George Inn, turn northwards into a narrow road (Manor Road) between the former Lloyds Bank and an antique shop. Follow this road over the A303 until you reach the Mere Down Falconry sign outside the last farm on the right. Turn in through large galvanised gates and park in the large farmyard. Please NB, the turning into Manor Road in the centre of Mere is sharp and the road is very narrow: take care! Signs will be up to help to direct you. If you get lost, please call 07749 478041 (Andrew) or 07802 760681 (Rosemary). Lunch at The George Inn, Mere. Loveday is taking bookings, and so far a dozen people have let her know their menu choices. If you want to join the party, please contact Loveday asap ([email protected]), as she needs to send the choices to The George tomorrow. The Summer Programme Full details of planned outings can by found on both our websites. Not far in the future is our visit to Barter's Plant Centre on Wednesday 13th June at 6pm, followed by supper at The Three Horseshoes in Chapmanslade; again, please book with Loveday for the meal. Sunday 8th July: FWCC's Frome Photo Walk, part of the Frome Festival, starts from the Cheese & Grain at 10 am. This event is free for FWCC members, whose support is always valuable. Tickets for non-members are £5 (bookable from the Frome Festival website or the Cheese & Grain, event 805.) Dyrham Park "Golden Hour" Walks Not an organised outing, butPhil Gillson has suggested that members may like to know about guided evening walks being offered for photographers in the deer-park of this National Trust property. Check it out on https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/events/6303b20d-89d9-4553-b7cc-e2a7df086d11/pages/details I shall send out newsletters from time to time between now and September, but not every week, as there may - sometimes - be nothing new to say. Enjoy the summer!
